WORTHINGTON CONSULTING

Conducted a years worth of personally funded research and development into various analysis tools to be used in the Compact Disc Industry.  Consulted various manufacturers in several countries in their manufacturing process and assisted in turn-around programs.

Personally supervised the design and establishment of process's in over 20 factories worldwide. Factories in the US and other countries include those in Sweden, France, East Germany, Czech Republic, Australia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Africa and more.

3/92 to 12/94
DEL MAR AVIONICS
Senior Process Engineer

Process and product development for the “Firetrac Mastering System”.  Responsibilities included the development of the substrate manufacturing process and inter-facing of new technology to the Optical Disc manufacturing industry. Worked with the physics and optics of thin films, the control of wet chemistry processes involving IR dyes and response development for control of a class 100 manufacturing environment.
*Developed the first documented process to produce “Red Book” acceptable master substrates for the “Firetrac” mastering unit.  Process included first level QC and response data for process control.
*Completed the first factory (and subsequent factories) of the Firetrac Mastering System and facilitated production of the first “Red Book” discs.
*Developed high yield electroforming process to produce stampers from polycarbonate masters.
*Developed and implemented a fundamental training program for optical disc manufacturing.
*Completed field installation and training at the first seven facilities designed for the Firetrac Mastering, Electroforming and Molding process.
**Chemical processing and variables associated with “non-  photoresist” mastering systems.
**Electronics and dymanics of CD-R systems and diode lasers.
**Research into the variation and stability of organic dye binders.

5/87 to 3/92
DISCTRONICS
Mastering Engineer
Support and optimization of a compact disc mastering/electroforming process and the supervision or 9 to 12 tech level employees.  Significant exposure to designed experimentation, statistical process control and precise execution documentation.
*Photolithography – Development and optimization of a single layer, sub-micron lithography process for the production of compact disc matters.  Exposure to the variables associated with positive photoresist chemistry and the formation of proper optical disc pit structure.  Support and optimization of a Sony DMC-1200 series mastering system.
*Electroforming – Support and optimization of an electroforming process for the manufacturing of compact disc “stampers”.  Significant experience troubleshooting electroforming chemistry and electroforming equipment.
*Quality Control – Statistical reporting and design of sampling procedures for the optimization of the process variables associated with mastering and molding operations, including:
CD-ROM and CD-A premastering, Laser optics, autofocusing/tracking systems, Thin film deposition, vacuum systems, on line yield and throughput reporting, SEM, EDAX and STM microscopic analysis and compact disc pit structure analysis and response.
